With the support and on behalf of the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs—both of which sponsor live-in studios at the Cité internationale des arts—the Institut français is launching its annual call for applications for residencies of three, six, or nine months, to take place between April 2026 and April 2027.

This program is open to artists and culture professionals of all disciplines who have been permanently residing abroad for at least five years.

Artists’ applications must be submitted by one or more cultural partners (such as the French cultural network abroad or French/foreign cultural institutions). These partners support the application by submitting the file and by covering the costs of international travel and a residency allowance. The Institut français provides the laureates with a live-in studio at the Cité internationale des arts free of charge, along with artistic and professional support.

Applications submitted directly by artists will be deemed ineligible. Partners may submit multiple applications, but only one application per artist is allowed. They must also indicate their ranking preferences and funding capacity in their letter of commitment.

Application deadline: October 12, 2025 (11:59 p.m. CET)
