The call for applications for the Institut français x Cité internationale des arts Residency Programme is open from July 1 to October 8, 2026, 11:59pm (CET).
This program is intended for artists and cultural professionals who have been living outside France for at least five years and who wish to develop a research and creative project in Paris during a residency of three, six, or nine months, taking place between April 2027 and April 2028.
Artists’ applications must be submitted by one or more cultural partners (such as the French cultural network abroad or French/foreign cultural institutions). These partners support the application by submitting the file and by covering the costs of international travel and a residency allowance. The Institut français provides the laureates with a live-in studio at the Cité internationale des arts free of charge, along with artistic and professional support.
Applications submitted directly by artists will be deemed ineligible. Partners may submit maximum 8 applications, but only one application per artist is allowed. They must also indicate their ranking preferences and funding capacity in their letter of commitment.
Application deadline: October 8, 2026 (11:59 p.m. CET)
Selection committee: December 2026
Announcement of results: January 2027
Before submitting an application, artist partners are encouraged to download and review the Regulations Governing Grants Awarded by the Institut français, and the Frequently Asked Questions document.
